Champions Sports Bar at Nashville Airport Marriott

Champions Sports Bar at Nashville Airport Marriott

Champions Sports Bar Nashville

I was recently invited to a good friend's birthday party at Champions Sports Bar in the Nashville Airport Marriott Hotel and was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere! The hotel and the Sports Bar have undergone beautiful renovations recently and provided the perfect backdrop for the birthday party! The very next week I called back to Champions to find out more about the space because I'm always being asked for recommendations of restaurants with private rooms, space for birthday parties, baby showers, etc. Well, I've added Champions to my list of restaurants with great space for parties and private events and encourage you to consider them as well! I made a 2nd trip to the restaurant to try some of their great menu selections and talk with the Executive Chef, Hanif Mohammed and Director of Operations, Donna Booker.

Donna tells me that Champions Sports Bar has made some changes to the overall concept of the restaurant. They have a more upscale focus now that includes having a 3 meal per day availability in the restaurant and bar. The restaurant is much more modern in appearance and features Nashville themed artwork on the walls, flat screen TVs at many of the booths (WOW!) and gorgeous decor. There's even a 14 Foot Flat screen on one of the main walls that is capable of playing 4 different Channels, games, etc at once! There's a private dining room in the restaurant that seats up to 50 people for more intimate events.

Before the recent renovations, Donna tells me that their Breakfast and lunch crowd was always great, but many people would leave the hotel for dinner to dine at other restaurants. Now, they are packed for dinner each night because of the great new menu offerings and atmosphere the restaurant provides. They have a great Sunday Brunch that is frequented not only by guests of the Marriott hotel, but also by local Nashvillians. Chef Hanif tells me that Saturday has also become a favorite day for local Nashvillians to frequent the Breakfast Buffet because it comes complete with an array of delicious breakfast offerings including smoked salmon, European meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, waffles, pancakes, Breakfast potatoes, sausage etc. A few years ago, Champions won the Nashville Scene's "Best of.." in the category of Best Breakfast Buffet! They offer a lunch buffet Monday - Friday.

Even though Champions is a National Marriott Hotels concept, the Nashville Marriott location has a lot of freedom with the menu including using many local products and sourcing from local farms. They use Benton's bacon, which is local to Tennessee. Their signature burger is made with a bun from local Nashville bakery, Provence. They have several local Nashville beers on tap including Yazoo, Jackelope, Gurst, Blackstone, and since this is Tennessee, there are some local Moonshine varieties available as well!

They have a Happy Hour from 4-6 Monday- Friday and all day on the weekend during Football Season! There are $5 Appetizers, $6 glasses of house wines and $3 drafts and during Happy Hour.

So now that I've given you this overview of how great Champions Sports Bar is inside the Nashville Airport Marriott, take a look below at some of the great menu items they offer!

Patrick's Bistreaux

Patrick's Bistreaux

May 5th is widely known as Cinco De Mayo for restaurant and party goers. However, on May 5th, 2014 I had dinner 'Creole Style' by dining at Patrick's Bistreaux with a group of other Nashville Food Bloggers. We were treated to 8 different dishes (Yes, 8!) that evening and not only did I leave full and happy, I felt like I had just taken a trip to the Bayou's of Louisiana! The experience came complete with great New Orleans style music being piped into the restaurant while we dined! I loved the entire menu :-) Here's a look at what I enjoyed:

Dr. Carmen April Hosting Dining Out For Life 2014

Hosting Dining Out For Life 2014 at Boca Loca Cantina and Taco Factory

Last month I told you all about the Dining Out For Life Event with Nashville Cares and that I would be hosting this event at a participating restaurant - Boca Loca (you can read it again here if you like)! Well, the event took place on Tuesday April 22nd, 2014 and was a great success!!! I was happy to see so many people come out to support Nashville Cares in this endeavor! Boca Loca donated 50% of their proceeds for the night to Nashville Cares to support their programs and initiatives...WOW!!!

ABOUT NASHVILLE CARES:
Nashville CARES offers services annually to more than 60,000 Middle Tennesseans infected and affected by HIV/AIDS including: HIV prevention education to over 44,000 youth and adults, 13,000 FREE confidential HIV tests, and support services to 2,500 men, women and children living with the disease. For information about Nashville CARES, visit www.NashvilleCARES.org and “like” them on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/NashCARES.

#DiningOutForLife                        #FightAids

I was so busy walking around to the tables and talking to restaurant patrons that I didn't take many pictures. However, if you didn't support the event this year, make sure you come out next year. It's a SUPER AWESOME cause!

My good friend Karesse and her niece Desi came out to dine with me that evening

I got to be a restaurant Greeter and Host....fun fun!
Dining Out For Life Nashville

Thanks to everyone who came out to support! There were people who dined at Boca Loca specifically for this event and others who didn't know it was the evening for Dining Out For Life, but were excited about the cause when I talked with them about it!

Special thanks to my friends, Sorority Sisters, blog readers and even a couple of my patients who came out to support Nashville Cares and me as the host!

Until next year.......................

Peanut Butter Banana Roll ups

Banana & Peanut Butter Roll-ups

Peanut Butter Banana Roll ups

Bananas- check! Peanut Butter - Check! Hazelnut Spread - Check! Tortillas - Check! This recipe is that simple :-). I'm always looking for something easy and delicious to make for breakfast before heading out the door to my office each morning. I'd never thought of having tortillas for breakfast, but when I came across this simple recipe from a fellow food blogger I decided to give it a try. I'm now in love with it and have eaten it everyday since I first tried it out for my blog!

I got this simple, but yummy idea and recipe from Tracy of the Shutterbean Blog. Thanks Tracy!

I actually made two versions of this recipe - one using Peanut Butter and the other using Hazelnut Spread ( I actually love the version with the Hazelnut Spread better!)
Peanut Butter Banana Roll ups

There's that delicious Hazelnut Spread :-)
Hazelnut Banana Rollups

* Spread the Peanut Butter or Hazelnut directly on the Tortilla
* Place the banana along one edge of the coated tortilla
* Roll the tortilla around the banana then cut into slices

Hazelnut Banana Rollups

Viola! A simple, yet delicious and healthy breakfast snack on the go!

I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!
