Guantanamera Nashville

A Taste of Cuba at Guantanamera

Nolensville Pike is a thoroughfare of ethnic markets, shops and restaurants in Nashville. You can find restaurants featuring everything from Asian, Egyptian, Ethiopian, Indian, Colombian, African and Cuban along with strip of road! I would love to do a restaurant crawl of this area one day but, for now, I'll start with Guantanamera Cuban Restaurant

I started my brunch off with a Café Cubano, Cuban Coffee, and boy was it tasty and strong! Cuban Coffee has a reputation for being pretty strong and this one lived up to that stereotype.

So, my friend ordered the Jugos Naturales in Guanabana Flavor when I ordered the coffee and once I tasted a sip of hers I had to have one too! All I needed after this drink was a bikini and a ticket to Miami!
Guanabana is a fruit that is cultivated in South America, West Indies, Bali and the Philippines, etc. and is thought to have healing properties. It's very sweet and smooth.

Arepa Venezolana - Venezualan arepa with roasted pork, mozzarella, scrambled egg with green onion and tomato. This was delicious and very filling! I actually only ate half of it and saved the other half for dinner the next day!

Sandwich Cubano - roasted pork, ham, Swiss, pickles mustard on Cuban bread. I LOVE a good Cuban sandwich and this one is as authentic as it gets!

Oh....and I can't forget those delicious Fried Plantains :-). Those are a must for a great Cuban meal

I can definitely see myself making this a regular weekend Brunch/Lunch spot!
