12 South Farmer's Market

12 South Farmer's Market: An outdoor pop-up Farmer's Market!

Last week a patient of mine told me about the 12 South Farmers Market and how much he LOVES the fresh food and produce available for Nashvillians to enjoy every Tuesday from May-October at Sevier Park! Of course, I had to go check it out. Even though it was a sweltering summer day in Nashville, I enjoyed having so many great vendors to talk to and try out all in one place!

My 1st stop was Provence Bread......

Tuscan Italian White and Cranberry Wheat Walnut from Provence Breads & Cafe (http://www.provencebreads.com/wordpress/ )was sliced up for me to enjoy and both were super fresh and flavorful!

My 2nd stop was Tealixir  ( http://www.tealixirnashville.com/ ),  a company that makes effervescent (bubbly) organic teas via a special brewing method that offers nutrients and healthful properties.

I tried both, the Amrita Chai and the Dr. Marigold - Both had the effervescent texture and along with the mild, clean tea flavor

My 3rd stop was to Haulin' Oats, a family based Nashville Company creating gourmet oatmeal blends. I tried the "A Date in the Life" flavor and it was delicious with mild flavors and bold aromas of Cinnamon...yummy!

Each flavor of oatmeal has a cool name like this one - CHAI a Little Tenderness

.....and this one - A Date in the Life

Lavender Blue

Cinnamon Girl

These Peaches were picked just 2 days prior to being in my hands (Talk about FRESH!) so they were not ripe enough to enjoy right then. But, when I did eat them about 4 days later............boy oh boy were they juicy and sweet!

Many local Nashville Restaurants use the fresh Georgia Peaches from The Peach Truck in their dishes (including one that I am about to show you below!)

My 5th and last stop for the evening was The Grilled Cheeserie - a Nashville Food Truck Favorite! (http://thegrilledcheeserietruck.com/)

Where do I begin to explain the delishishness that is THIS grilled Cheese Sandwich ----> This is the "Melt of the Moment", the "Pork Belly BBQ" with Buttermilk Cheddar Cheese, Local Pork Belly, Peach BBQ Sauce, and House Pickles on Country White Toast

Pork Belly BBQ Grilled Cheese Sandwich

This delicious sandwich is accompanied by the most flavorful soup I have had in a while ---> The Summer Tomato & Veggie Soup - A light brothy tomato based soup with roasted local veggies (corn, summer squash, kale and green garlic) & basil oil

The first bite of this sandwich and the soup made my eyes roll back in my head........Yes, it's THAT good!

Root Beer is the perfect beverage pairing to wash this all down :-)

And for dessert...........Local Peach & Blueberry Cobbler with peaches from The Peach Truck (as I mentioned above) and Delvin Farms Blueberries ( another local TN farm) topped with Buttermilk whipped Cream and Honey Roasted Almonds
There is nothing sweeter than cobbler made with FRESH Peaches and Blueberries picked just days ago. I'll take another one please :-)

The Grilled Cheeserie's owners, Le Cordon Bleu trained chef Crystal De Luna-Bogan and her husband Joseph Bogan, love supporting local vendors and farms

I shall venture out to the 12 South Farmer's Market very soon to see what other great Nashville originals I can come across and learn more about to share with you!
